The improvements to the existing Waynesville Wastewater Treatment Plant included CIP headworks, new disc filters and associated canopy, existing aeration basins’ equipment rehabilitation, old blower room to chemical storage room conversion, existing rectangular secondary clarifiers rehabilitation, existing sludge thickeners rehabilitation, and existing belt press rehabilitation.
INNOVATIVE METHODS
This project was an upgrade to an existing wastewater treatment plant, so construction required heavy sequencing around existing operations. We utilized our in-house BIM team to construct the project virtually first. This helped enhance facility management operations, efficiently plan plant operations, and coordinate the functional aspects of the plant with construction processes. Additionally, this project was significantly over-budget at bid time. Our team worked on value engineering for 8 months to reach an acceptable budget for construction without compromising on the main goals of the project.
