Project Description

Harper was selected as the CM At-Risk to construct a new, single-story 4,717 SF theatre on an active K-12 campus at Spartanburg Day School. The new theatre, named after the esteemed performing arts teacher of the school, represents a significant investment into the fine arts program for Spartanburg Day. The performing arts facility is equipped with a lobby, restrooms, 2,760 SF theatre space, a green room, dressing rooms, and storage spaces. The building itself was constructed using wood framing and steel structures with cement siding and brick skin.

Harper approached the Spartanburg Day School Valerie M. Barnet Theatre project with a proven, methodical strategy focused on student safety, seamless team integration, and efficient staging. Leveraging our extensive experience on active campuses, K-12 projects, and our history of success on Spartanburg Day’s campus, we ensured that all construction activities were planned to minimize disruptions to ongoing school operations. Our team coordinated with various trades and schedules, ensuring that the project was completed on time while maintaining the highest safety standards. By establishing clear communication with stakeholders, including the school administration, contractors, and community members, we created a collaborative environment where challenges were addressed proactively. We prioritized flexibility, which ensured that our team was able to adapt to meet deadlines and budget constraints without sacrificing quality or safety.
