Project Description

The SJWD Generator Pad project allowed Harper to MAINTAIN relationships with both the client (SJWD Water District) and an engineering group (Black & Veatch). This project provided the opportunity to establish a stronger relationship with both the client and the engineer, which in turn leads to long term partnerships. This project developed a positive rapport with SJWD and Black & Veatch, which helps build trust and credibility.

SJWD had been working on procurement for an upcoming project at the Middle Tyger High Service Pump Station and ordered 1,250 kW emergency generator that was to arrive before they completed the full design of all improvements. The generator was ordered early to combat long lead times and accelerate procurement. The generator was ready for shipment much earlier than anticipated, and instead of paying for storage of the generator, SJWD contacted us on short notice install a 14 LF x 30 LF x 1.5 LF generator pad & electrical hookups so that they could have the generator set directly on site. Harper promptly produced a proposal with SJWD, just in time for the estimated generator delivery. The scope of work consisted of laying stone, forming, tying and pouring a concrete pad, establishing main electrical connections, and receiving and setting the generator on site.

The generator pad location was off a busy road, as well as in a tight location. Harper prepared a quality plan for both receiving and setting the generator utilizing a 200-ton crane, which set the team up for success.
