The scope of work at the Bessemer City WTP included improvements to the existing facility, including installation of a new raw water intake pump station and intake building, new electrical building, modifications to sedimentation basins and flocculation basins, new chemical treatment system, and modifications to the office building. This project featured a 30+’ deep excavation with driven sheets for the intake wetwell. At the plant, there was a significant modification of process operations coordination to change out the chemical feed equipment, high service pumps, and the associated electrical gear within the existing footprints.
